In a recent court ruling, two members of the climate action group ‘Letzte Generation’ received prison sentences for their role in a vandalism incident at Sylt Airport, causing damages exceeding one million euros. The Amtsgericht Niebüll sentenced two activists to six and seven months in prison without parole, while two others were fined. The court dismissed the defense’s argument that their actions were necessary for climate protection, stating that such behavior undermines public support for climate initiatives.
