Serbian Court Sentences Parents for School Shooting Involvement
A Belgrade court sentenced Vladimir Kečmanović to 14.5 years and Miljana Kečmanović to three years in prison for their roles in the May 2023 school shooting that left ten people dead, including nine students. The shooter, their son, was only 13 at the time of the incident and is not criminally liable under Serbian law. The court found Vladimir guilty of serious endangerment and child neglect, while Miljana was sentenced for neglect and child abuse. This event sparked significant anti-government protests in Serbia against violence in media and calls for accountability.
