Severe Damage to Platanus Ecosystems in Preveza Due to Disease
The Platanus disease continues to cause significant destruction to the riverside ecosystems of Preveza, altering the natural landscape. In the Xirias stream region, the Epirus Region has recently removed large quantities of dead trunks, with similar scenes occurring in the plane tree forest of Agios Georgios and various spots along the Acheron River. The pathogen known as the ‘translucent ulcer’ has devastated thousands of plane trees, which are vital to the natural heritage of Epirus, with no effective solutions found yet.
