Severe Waves Force Closures in Peru and Ecuador
Peru and Ecuador are experiencing unusually high waves, prompting the closure of ports and beaches, as dozens of fishermen require rescue. The Peruvian Navy has saved around 30 fishermen who were stranded for two days. Despite warnings, many fishermen went out to sea to save their boats. Additionally, 81 ports in Peru, including Callao, have been closed, with some areas under water. Ecuador’s Marine Oceanographic Institute has also issued warnings, particularly affecting the Galápagos Islands. The weather is expected to stabilize later this week.
