Severe Weather Causes Chaos in Thessaloniki with Damaged Infrastructure and Power Outages

Thessaloniki faced catastrophic weather conditions with uprooted trees, downed power lines, and severe flooding, impacting many areas including the city center and the Mount Athos region. Wind gusts reached up to 95 km/h, causing two cargo ships to collide at the port. Numerous households experienced prolonged power outages, particularly in Panorama and Western Thessaloniki. Schools in the region will remain closed for safety reasons on December 2nd due to the aftermath of the storm. Authorities received hundreds of emergency calls as residents reported significant damage.
