Significant Decrease in Asylum Seekers at Ter Apel Registration Center

The Ter Apel asylum registration center in the Netherlands is experiencing a notable decline in the number of incoming asylum seekers, allowing it to operate within its capacity limits for the first time in years. Since a court ruling last month imposed daily fines for exceeding 2,000 residents, the center has been successful in keeping numbers below that threshold. Recently, nearby emergency shelters have also closed as fewer asylum seekers enter the country. New emergency facilities are being established, including two container ships capable of housing 1,000 individuals, aimed at easing the pressure on Ter Apel.
