Sixth Tourist Dies in Laos from Tainted Alcohol Incident
A sixth foreign tourist, 19-year-old Australian Holly Bowles, has died after reportedly consuming methanol-laced alcohol while on vacation in Laos. Her passing follows the death of her friend, Bianca Jones, also 19. In total, British, American, and Danish tourists are among the casualties linked to the incident, which occurred in the backpacking town of Vang Vieng. Authorities have detained the hostel’s owner and manager as investigations continue, while Laos officials remain tight-lipped about the case amidst growing concerns over tourist safety.
