Sofia Zacharakis Announces 20,000 New Childcare Spots in Greece
Sofia Zacharakis, the Greek Minister of Social Cohesion and Family, unveiled a plan to create 20,000 new childcare spots for children aged 2 months to 2.5 years. Funded with €70 million from the Recovery and Resilience Fund, the initiative aims to enhance family support and child care accessibility in both public and private facilities. Mayors and private nursery owners are encouraged to apply for subsidies to expand existing services or establish new ones. The program is set to run until the first quarter of 2026, benefiting working parents.
