South Korea Extends Safety Inspections on Boeing 737-800s After Fatal Crash
The South Korean Ministry of Transport has extended safety inspections on 101 Boeing 737-800 aircraft for an additional week following a fatal crash of a Jeju Air plane that killed 179 people. The inspections will assess maintenance records, engines, and landing gear, and may result in grounding airlines for serious violations. An emergency meeting with the CEOs of major airlines was held to discuss aviation safety. Investigators will also travel to the United States to analyze flight data recorders.
