In a unanimous decision, South Korean lawmakers voted to impeach acting President Han Duck-soo, accusing him of actively participating in a rebellion following his predecessor Yoon Seok-youl’s attempt to impose martial law. All 192 voting members supported the motion. Han, who became acting president after Yoon was suspended, did not appoint judges to fill Constitutional Court vacancies, which prompted the opposition Democratic Party to push for his impeachment. The next in line for acting presidential duties is Finance Minister Choi Sang-mok.
