South Korean Parliament Votes to Impeach President Yoon
The South Korean Parliament has voted to impeach President Yoon Suk-yeol, with a significant majority of 204 votes in favor and 85 against. This decision follows Yoon’s controversial imposition of a state of emergency that sidelined the parliament, although he quickly retracted it amid public backlash. Prime Minister Han Duck-soo has been appointed as the interim leader. The impeachment motion had been previously set to be voted on last week but was delayed due to a boycott by Yoon’s own party.
