Spar International has withdrawn its license for Spar stores in Iran following allegations that the American chain was being used to circumvent sanctions against the Iranian regime. A whistleblower revealed that the Austrian company Blue River, which initially received the license, allegedly procured unnecessary equipment and facilitated travel for family members of sanctioned individuals. Despite previous denials of wrongdoing, Spar International is now set to conduct an investigation into potential irregularities linked to its operations in Iran.
