Sparta Transforms into a Christmas Village Featuring Local Products and Festivities
The central square of Sparta has been transformed into a vast Christmas village, complete with stilt walkers and elves, set against the snowy Taygetus mountain. Mayor Michalis Vakalo-poulos announced that the village will operate for 17 days, featuring wooden houses, gingerbread, a carousel, an ice rink, and Santa Claus, all free for visitors. The village aims to promote local Laconian products and also allows for donations to support the local food bank. The event is expected to significantly benefit the local economy and attract visitors from other regions.
