Spike in Wolf Attacks Reported in the Netherlands: 491 Incidents Logged This Year
A recent analysis reveals that the Netherlands has recorded 491 wolf attacks in the first nine months of 2023, surpassing the total for all of last year. Gelderland province is the hardest hit with 237 incidents, while Noord-Brabant sees a notable decrease in attacks. Many farmers are eligible for compensation due to livestock losses, but nearly all have not implemented sufficient protective measures. With nearly €400,000 paid out in damages this year, concerns continue over wolf attacks and adequate preparedness among livestock owners.
