A life-size statue of Kader Asmal, the former leader of the Irish Anti-Apartheid Movement and a Minister in South Africa’s first democratic government, has been unveiled in Cape Town. The statue is part of the Long March to Freedom exhibition, which commemorates significant figures in South Africa’s history, including Nelson Mandela and Steve Biko. Tributes from various dignitaries highlight Asmal’s contributions to the anti-apartheid struggle and his enduring legacy, both in South Africa and Ireland.
