The Independent Authority for Public Revenue in Greece, led by George Pitsilis, has announced the organizational upgrade of customs offices in several northern cities. Starting January 1, 2025, these offices will enhance their roles in combating smuggling, gaining A-B Class status and establishing a new department focused on anti-smuggling operations. This upgrade aims to improve monitoring of freight flows and ensure security for citizens and economic operators, especially following Bulgaria’s full integration into the Schengen area.
