Strike at the Paris Opera Due to Staffing Cuts

Employees at the Paris Opera have initiated a strike on December 19, called by the Sud Spectacle union, in protest against significant staff reductions that have led to the cancellation of performances. The union claims that overstaffing limits set by Parliament have decreased available positions severely, endangering service quality. As negotiations commence between the strikers and management, demands include filling vacant positions and addressing increased burnout and safety issues among staff. Previous strikes have also highlighted concerns over inadequate pay for preparation time.
