Strong Earthquake Strikes Tibet, Measuring 6.9 on Richter Scale
A powerful earthquake with a magnitude of 6.9 struck the city of Sigatche in Tibet early in the morning, as reported by China’s state broadcaster CCTV. The European-Mediterranean Seismological Institute identified the earthquake’s epicenter to be 84 kilometers north-northeast of Lobhutsé, with a focal depth of 10 kilometers. The quake was located approximately 58 miles northeast of Nepal.
