Study Links Air Pollution to Increased Long Covid Symptoms

A study led by the Barcelona Institute for Global Health, with main author Professor Manolis Kogevinas, reveals that exposure to air pollution is associated with a higher risk of persistent long Covid symptoms. The research, involving over 2,800 adults in Catalonia, found that about 25% experienced symptoms lasting three months or more, with women and those with lower education levels at higher risk. Vaccination appeared to mitigate risk, presenting a stark contrast between vaccinated (15% at risk) and unvaccinated (46% at risk) participants. Further investigation into the environmental impact on long Covid is warranted.
