Study Reveals Benefits of Polyunsaturated Fats in Reducing Belly Fat
A new study by Berlin’s Charité and the German Institute of Human Nutrition found that diets high in polyunsaturated fats can significantly reduce visceral fat in individuals aged 50 to 80. Participants consuming more polyunsaturated fats from sources like oils, nuts, and fish showed marked reductions in belly fat over 12 months, contrary to a control group following standard dietary recommendations. The findings suggest that while general weight loss may be challenging, adopting a diet rich in these healthy fats, along with increased protein and fiber, can diminish health risks associated with visceral fat without necessitating significant weight loss.
