Study Reveals Low Media Literacy Among Swiss Population

A recent study commissioned by the Swiss Federal Office of Communication (Bakom) reveals a concerning level of media literacy among Swiss adults, with an average score of only 6 out of 19 in various competency tests. The survey, which included around 3,000 respondents, highlighted differences in media understanding based on demographic factors, showing that German speakers and those with higher education levels scored better. Despite some positive results in social media competency, the study also found that a significant portion of the public distrusts media and believes in manipulation by media and politics.
