Study Reveals Profile and Challenges of Swiss Journalists
A recent study from the Zurich University of Applied Sciences sheds light on the typical Swiss journalist, revealing a demographic predominantly male, 43 years old, and politically left-leaning. The study also highlights deteriorating working conditions, increasing precarity, and the mental health concerns faced by journalists. Despite a high presence of women in leadership roles, they remain underrepresented. Additionally, a significant majority report experiencing harassment and discrimination in their work environments. The survey, part of the ‘Worlds of Journalism’ project, involved 1,179 media professionals across Switzerland’s linguistic regions.
