Support for Mayotte’s Reconstruction After Cyclone Chido
The Foundation of France has raised nearly 15 million euros to aid Mayotte’s recovery from Cyclone Chido, which caused extensive damage. Karine Meaux, emergency manager at the foundation, emphasized the urgent need for hygiene and cleaning supplies for displaced residents. Initial funds have helped distribute essential kits, while additional support from the government includes a temporary increase in tax deductions for donations. Reconstruction efforts, as stated by Prime Minister François Bayrou, are expected to be challenging and will require swift action.
