Over the Christmas holiday from December 24 to 26, the Swiss Air Rescue Service (Rega) conducted more than 150 missions, marking a 20 percent increase compared to the previous year. The majority of these operations involved injured winter sports enthusiasts, followed by emergencies due to acute illnesses. Rega’s ambulances also facilitated patient transfers abroad, with missions in Tanzania, Bulgaria, Italy, Kosovo, and the United Arab Emirates. The rise in operations reflects changing weather conditions and travel patterns during the holiday season.
