Swiss Farmers’ Association Calls for Support Amid Economic Pressure

The Swiss Farmers’ Association (SBV) has renewed calls for measures to strengthen family farms, highlighting the significant economic and social pressures they face. SBV Director Martin Rufer reported that average earnings for farming families have stagnated since 2021, stressing the need for fair product prices that can adequately cover production costs and allow for savings. The association also raised concerns about new regulations increasing administrative burdens and sought government action to improve conditions in the agricultural sector, citing rising mental health issues among farmers due to financial stress.
