Swiss Steel Group Announces Major Job Cuts to Combat Financial Struggles

Swiss Steel Group will cut approximately 800 jobs across Europe, including 130 positions at its Emmenbrücke facility in Switzerland. As part of a restructuring plan, 530 jobs will be eliminated, while 270 positions will see reduced hours. The company aims to lower its workforce to under 7,000 by mid-2025, with cuts affecting both production and administrative roles. Due to insufficient natural turnover, around 80 layoffs will be necessary. The measures highlight ongoing challenges within the steel industry amid economic pressures.
