Swiss Village Faces Renewed Evacuation Threat Due to Rockslide

The small Swiss village of Brienz GR, home to about 90 residents, may face months of evacuation due to the threat of a rockslide. Residents, who were already displaced for 52 days last year, are frustrated by the prospect of leaving their homes again. A potential 1.2 million cubic meters of debris could descend at alarming speeds, prompting concerns for both residents and their livestock. To mitigate the ongoing geological threat, a tunnel expansion project initiated this year aims to redirect water from the mountain, though it will take approximately 3.5 years to complete.
