Switzerland Considers Bitcoin for National Currency Reserves

A new initiative in Switzerland aims to include Bitcoin in the Swiss National Bank’s currency reserves. The proposal, led by internet pioneer Yves Bennaïm, seeks to amend the constitution to allow the SNB to invest in Bitcoin and gold using its earnings. The initiative requires 100,000 signatures within 18 months to be considered, reflecting growing institutional acceptance of Bitcoin amid significant price increases. This discussion follows previous skepticism from former SNB President Thomas Jordan about Bitcoin’s suitability for reserves.
