Switzerland Proposes Ban on PFAS to Enhance Environmental and Health Protection
The Swiss Federal Council plans to implement a ban on per- and polyfluorinated alkyl substances (PFAS) in easily replaceable products by November 2026 as part of new chemical regulations. The changes aim to align with international standards and modernize chemical protection in Switzerland. Other measures include stricter rules on lead-containing PVC and formaldehyde, alongside regulations for ozone-depleting substances and synthetic greenhouse gases. The public consultation on the proposals is open until March 21.
