Suad Aldarra, a Syrian-Irish author, expresses hope about returning to her hometown of Damascus following the fall of President Bashar al-Assad’s government. After leaving Syria in 2012, Aldarra built her life in Dublin, where she wrote a memoir about her experiences. With the possibility of returning, she reflects on her previous struggles with her identity and looks forward to sharing her homeland with her seven-year-old son, who has never visited Syria.
