Russian state media reports that exiled Syrian President Bashar al-Assad has arrived in Moscow to seek asylum with his family. Assad reportedly left Syria early on Sunday, and is said to have called for a peaceful transfer of power, urging all parties to resolve issues without violence. Russia, a long-time ally of Assad, has supported him since the onset of the Syrian civil war in 2011 and has had military presence in Syria since 2015.
