Teenage Afghan Refugee Nila Ibrahimi Raises Awareness for Silenced Girls
Nila Ibrahimi, a 17-year-old Afghan refugee, has been recognized as the International Children’s Peace Prize winner. Through her project, HerStory, she aims to share the stories of Afghan girls and connect them with Gen Z in Canada. After fleeing Afghanistan due to Taliban restrictions on women’s rights, Ibrahimi emphasizes the importance of storytelling in understanding shared experiences. Her advocacy also stems from her background in performing arts, highlighting the potential of Afghan girls amid current challenges.
