The Arrival of Jacques Chevallier: France’s New Naval Support Ship
The Jacques Chevallier, a new support ship for the French navy, has arrived at Souda Port, replacing aging vessels. Measuring 194 meters and displacing 16,000 tons, it is second only to the aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle. Equipped with advanced artillery and defense systems, the ship aims to enhance naval operations worldwide. Captain Christophe Gaumé praised Souda Port for its outstanding logistical support for the carrier strike group. The vessel is named after a significant figure in French naval engineering.
