Thessaloniki Lights Up for Christmas Celebrations Amid Weather Challenges

Thessaloniki is set to kick off its Christmas festivities today with the lighting of an 18-meter Christmas tree in Aristotelous Square, following recent adverse weather that delayed the event. Mayor Stelios Angeloudis will officiate the ceremony, alongside performances from Michalis Hatzigiannis and the Onirama band. This year’s celebrations include major decorations throughout the city and a newly introduced ‘White Night’ shopping event by the Thessaloniki Chamber of Commerce. Christmas trees will also be lit in every municipal district, creating a festive atmosphere across the city.
