Thomas Clerc Wins Wepler Prize for Captivating Portrait of Paris

Thomas Clerc, a 59-year-old author, has been awarded the Wepler Prize for his novel ‘Paris, musée du XXIe siècle: le dix-huitième arrondissement.’ This extensive work, published in August, explores the diverse realities of the 18th arrondissement of Paris, blending vibrant street scenes from both tourist-heavy areas like Montmartre and less affluent neighborhoods. The jury praised the book for its ambitious naturalistic approach to contemporary urban life and its reflections on the future of global cities. A special mention, along with a €3,000 prize, was awarded to Belgian writer Célestin de Meeûs for his debut novel.
