Traffic Congestion in Greece: The Impact of Rising Car Numbers

The increasing number of cars in Greece is exacerbating traffic issues, with an annual import of 190,000 vehicles compared to only 40,000 being scrapped. This results in a surplus of 150,000 cars, many of which are on the roads in Attica. Nicos Tsadaras, president of the Association of Automobile and Motorcycle Journalists, suggests building public trust in urban transport as a potential solution. Experts believe that retiring old, poorly maintained vehicles, increasing public transportation usage, and expanding the metro system could significantly alleviate congestion.
