Tragic Avalanche Incident Claims Life of Ski Tourer in Arolla, Switzerland
A 27-year-old Swiss man lost his life in an avalanche while ski touring in Arolla, despite swift rescue efforts. His companion remained unharmed. The incident occurred during their ascent between Glacier de Chelion and the Pas de Chèvre when the avalanche was triggered. This tragic event marks the second avalanche fatality of the winter season in Switzerland, following the death of snowboarder Sophie Hediger in December. So far this winter, there have been 22 reported avalanche incidents according to the WSL Institute for Snow and Avalanche Research.
