Off the coast of Gavdos, Greece, a wooden migrant boat capsized, resulting in the drowning of at least five individuals. Eyewitnesses report many more missing, prompting a search involving the coast guard, an Italian frigate, and a military aircraft. So far, 39 men, predominantly from Pakistan, have been rescued by nearby freighters. The coast guard has noted a rise in such incidents in the region this year, with additional rescues occurring from other sinking boats nearby.
