Trial Rescheduled in Rethymno Hunting Murder Case

The trial concerning the murder of a hunter on Crete’s Rethymno island, initially set for Monday, has been postponed to Friday due to a judge’s illness. The accused, a local shepherd, allegedly shot the 49-year-old hunter during a confrontation that arose after one of the hunter’s dogs entered his property. The suspect argues he was defending himself against shots fired by the victim. The shepherd had previously received a life sentence for homicide and additional penalties for illegal firearm possession.
