One year ago, on December 27, 2023, police officer George Lygeridis passed away after a long fight for life following a serious injury from a flare launched by hooligans. To honor his memory, the municipality of Renti has renamed the street where the attack occurred. A memorial ceremony was held, with the Greek Police Philharmonic playing the national anthem to pay respect to the fallen officer, emphasizing the dangers faced by police officers.
