Tunisia National Rescued After Illness at Sea Near Greece

A 23-year-old Tunisian man was reported ill while aboard a Polish-flagged sailboat off the coast of Gavdos, Greece. Authorities were alerted and he was diagnosed with hemoptysis. The Coast Guard’s FRONTEX transferred him to Paleochora, from where he was taken to the local health center and later to Chania General Hospital, where he was discharged. During the investigation by the Chania Central Port Authority, he was arrested for illegally boarding the sailboat in an attempt to enter Greece.
