Turkey Plans for Syrian Refugee Return Amid Ongoing Migration Crisis
Turkey hosts approximately 2.92 million Syrian refugees who fled the civil war since 2011, according to Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya. Over the past two weeks, more than 25,000 refugees returned to Syria. Authorities plan to establish migration management offices in Turkey’s embassy in Damascus and consulate in Aleppo to aid returning refugees. To further facilitate this process and reduce negative sentiments towards Syrians in Turkey, families will be allowed multiple trips to Syria and to take their vehicles with them.
