Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan stated that the elimination of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) fighters in Syria is just a matter of time. Speaking alongside Jordanian counterpart Ayman Safadi, he emphasized Turkey’s commitment to prevent any political agreements that would allow the Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG) to maintain a presence in Syria. Ongoing conflicts in northern Syria involve various armed factions supported by Turkey and Kurdish forces, which Ankara claims are affiliated with the PKK.
