Two Earthquakes Strike Crete, Greece
On December 29, 2024, two earthquakes measuring 4.5 and 3.3 on the Richter scale struck Crete, Greece. The first quake occurred at 10:02 AM, with its epicenter located 17 kilometers east-southeast of Palekastro at a depth of 26 kilometers, and no damages or injuries have been reported. The second tremor hit at 10:28 AM, 20 kilometers southeast of Palekastro at a depth of 20 kilometers. Both quakes were felt strongly but were short in duration, accompanied by a noticeable rumbling sound.
