U.S. Denies Involvement in Killing of Senior Russian General in Ukraine Conflict
The United States stated it had no prior knowledge or involvement in the attack that killed Russian Lieutenant General Igor Kirilov in Moscow, attributed to Ukraine. U.S. State Department spokesman Matthew Miller condemned Kirilov for his role in war crimes, including the use of chemical weapons against Ukrainian forces. Kirilov, 54, is the highest-ranking Russian military official killed since the onset of the invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.
