UK and Cyprus Strengthen Cooperation to Combat Organized Crime and Russian Funding

The UK and Cyprus have announced a closer collaboration to tackle serious organized crime and illicit Russian financing, establishing a new National Sanctions Enforcement Unit. Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s visit marks 50 years since a UK Prime Minister last visited Cyprus. The initiative aims to curb the flow of illicit Russian funds in Europe and includes training for Cypriot law enforcement agencies. Starmer emphasized the importance of partnerships in safeguarding national security and highlighted Cyprus’s efforts in freezing Russian assets since the invasion of Ukraine.
