This comes alongside a £50 million humanitarian aid package for vulnerable Syrians. Lammy emphasized the need for a representative government in Syria and highlighted the importance of maintaining contact under existing terrorism legislation. The U.S. is also engaging with HTS, particularly in relation to the fate of the missing American journalist Austin Tice.
