The United Nations peacekeeping force in Lebanon, UNIFIL, has urged for a prompt Israeli withdrawal from southern Lebanon, citing breaches of a ceasefire agreement with Hezbollah. Under a US-brokered 60-day ceasefire established after a year of conflict, both sides are to adhere to a phased pullout and cease offensive actions. UNIFIL expressed concerns over Israeli military activities causing destruction in residential areas. Lebanon’s army is also monitoring Israeli incursions, while UNIFIL remains prepared to oversee the security situation in the area.
