The UN General Assembly has overwhelmingly adopted a resolution demanding an immediate, unconditional, and permanent ceasefire between Israel and Hamas militants in the Gaza Strip, as well as the immediate release of all hostages. The resolution was approved on Wednesday by 158 of the 193 member states, echoing previous calls for a humanitarian ceasefire made in October 2023.
