A second undersea telecommunications cable connecting Sweden to Lithuania has been damaged, following a similar incident with a cable between Finland and Germany. Swedish Civil Defense Minister Carl-Oskar Bohlin emphasized the need to understand why both cables are non-operational. While internet traffic has been rerouted, officials believe that the damage, rather than equipment failure, is behind the disruptions. German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius suggested sabotage as a likely cause, amidst rising concerns of threats from Russia in the Baltic region.
